Toyen Adams started high school, looking for a fresh start to put her troubled past behind her. She sought refuge in her education to escape her crazy life at home. Her father, an alcoholic– crack addicted veteran who was ousted from the army days after she was born, led her into the hands of foster care. Feeling blamed by her birth mother for her parents failed marriage, Toyen was faced with the struggles of finding herself and looking for security in replacement for her father who frequented in jail.  

She found sanctuary, structure and companionship in a thug, Jacory Jones whom she met in school. Her admiration for him existed from the moment she laid eyes on him. Her better judgment became non-existent when it came to this debonair gangster. Drawn in by his cockiness, intellect and street creditability, she felt compelled to keep him around.

Toyen quickly fell head over heels for this man despite his involvement with selling the same street product that tore her family apart. His rivalry in the streets became an intimate part of her life. His infidelities were just speed bumps in their relationship, she thought she was living righteous, but she never realized she was condoning everything she said she would never be a part of. Through deceit, disappointment, betrayal and illegal activity she held tight to her loyalty. Who ever said love came easy?
